From 26 March 2019, Eea Haldan Vestergaard (V) will replace Asger Christensen as chairman of the board of Kolding Port. Asger Christensen has applied for leave from the city council to campaign for the European Parliament.
“A few days ago, the Port of Kolding was able to present financial statements with record turnover. Proof that there is plenty of activity at the port. Now we are pleased to announce that there will also be new forces in the position of Chairman of the Board”, says Port Director Anders Vangsbjerg Sørensen and continues, “At the Port of Kolding we look forward to working with Eea Haldan Vestergaard. Her professional background in international business development and her many years of experience in the financial world put her in a good position to strengthen the port in the coming years.”
“Ports are fascinating. Since the Viking Age, it has been the most important part of the infrastructure to make the world smaller – and all of us smarter and richer. It is therefore extremely important to me that we will continue to be a modern and well-functioning port for many years to come,” says the new chairman of the board of the Port of Kolding, who continues, “The magic that exists when people and industry meet water makes ports something very special. I am therefore also very much looking forward to meeting the port’s businesses and employees.”
The first meetings have already been scheduled for 27 March, when the new chairman will have the opportunity to meet a large number of port stakeholders. The new Chair wants to get first-hand knowledge of projects, issues, wishes and possibilities before making a concrete announcement.
“Eea will work for a high level of information and transparency in the years to come. Although some of the coming years may be difficult. She wants everyone at the port – both companies and employees – to be involved as much as possible in the process of transforming the area from port to city, says Anders Vangsbjerg Sørensen, who is pleased with the decision to appoint Eea Haldan Vestergaard.
Eea Haldan Vestergaard replaces the current Chairman of the Board of the Port of Kolding, the politically appointed Asger Christensen. Asger Christensen has, by his own choice, sought leave from his work in the city council and as chairman of the board of the Port of Kolding, as he is running for the EU Parliament. In this context, he needs to devote his energies to the election campaign, but he does not want the Port of Kolding to suffer, and therefore Eea Haldan Vestergaard replaces him.
