KIBO helps to secure operations at the Port of Kolding
The Port of Kolding faced quite a challenge, as the gate to the north quay was too small, and thus large items could not be taken into the port area.
This resulted in limited development potential for the port and it was therefore considered whether the Port of Kolding should invest in a new and larger port.
However, during the deliberations, the existing gate was so badly damaged that it had to be replaced anyway. The decision to get a new port was thus made.

Gate from KIBO: HTC folding gate with a clear opening of 12 meters to the Port of Kolding.
The quest for a multifunctional port
A new port was needed, and the new port not only had to be larger than the previous one; the new port also had to be able to act as a replacement for two ports. In order to ensure access to and from the north quay, which is on the same road, Kolding Port had installed a folding gate for the access road and a folding gate for the exit road, so that the roads could be opened and closed independently of each other. However, each of the two gates had a clearance of only 4 metres, so no large items could pass through the gates.
A two-in-one solution
The solution to the gate problem is an HTC folding gate with a total clearance of 12 metres and a corresponding two-way function, so that the gate can also function as two separate gates with clearances of 6 metres.
The total clearance of 12 metres thus means that wide items can be easily let in and out of the port area, and the folding gate’s two-way function ensures that the access and exit roads can continue to be opened and closed independently of each other. The new folding gate at the Port of Kolding also takes up significantly less space than its two predecessors.

The two-way function of the folding door ensures that the entrance and exit roads can still be opened and closed independently of each other.
Removable BroBizz and access control system
However, in order to make use of the large clear opening of the new folding gate, the BroBizz and the access control system in the central bay had to be made removable. KIBO’s Electronic Monitoring department therefore developed a mobile system for both BroBizz and the access control system, so that they can now be easily moved as needed.
The new folding gate, together with the removable access control system and BroBizz, has now been in use since the summer of 2018, and it has proved to be an optimal solution. With few human resources, large items can now easily be safely loaded and unloaded from the port area while maintaining normal ISPS operations.

KIBO’s Electronic Surveillance department has developed a mobile BroBizz and access control system that can be easily moved when wide items need to pass through the gate.
