Board work at the Port of Kolding

Portrait of Mette Høi Davidsen

“In the board work at the port, I primarily contribute with my skills in real estate, sustainability, utilization of resources, customer relations and the importance of having a strategic focus anddaring to set a direction.” says Mette about her role on the board. As the board of Kolding Port, we have a great responsibility to ensure earnings at the port, so we have funds for both maintenance and renewal of the facilities at the port. Port of Kolding must offer the right framework for our customers now and in the future, therefore a close dialog with the port’s users and a common understanding is important. Customers and citizens in Kolding need to know that Kolding Port and Kolding Municipality have made a joint decision that the city and port will live and develop side by side. Part of the city’s identity is a continued vibrant and active commercial port – this is exactly what the board is working towards. We want to develop good relations with the port’s customers, the city’s citizens and our owner Kolding Municipality based on integrity. We must understand and utilize the fact that one of the port’s distinctive features is that the companies at the port can easily be each other’s partners, while maintaining healthy competition in the port area. In the coming years, we will see a further streamlining of the transportation sector – and we want to be at the forefront of this at the Port of Kolding. In the board of directors, we possess a wide range of skills that are essential in the boardroom and the overall management of the port. It suits my way of thinking that we contribute differently so that together we can make a bigger difference. We are a medium-sized port by Danish standards – we can learn from other ports and they can learn from us. Maybe we can share resources with other ports? We must dare to say out loud what we want. It helps to emphasize the direction of the future work at Kolding Port.
